How much can happen in a few days?

How much can happen in a few days?

Well, more than I would think. Meeting friends we haven’t seen for years, and having friends do the same is a thrill. Happy hour can be so good when we get a chance to talk with people we haven’t talked with for way to long.
What holds us back from just saying Hi to friends? Mostly opportunity...
Today we had that opportunity, we all talked about so much, past, and what happened, who we remembered, and what happened, who was there and what was said. Why we did what we did, where we went, and who said what. Life as we remember, with friends who were where we were, and did what we did, and remembered all we did, just differently. Wow what a great night. Loving this, had the best talk with another writer who isn’t sure, but will, and does write now, just not publicly. Was such fun....
Polly and Bosco go to bed, me I write, listening to music from when I was young, and drinking my last Black Russian tonight.
Loving life here in an RV Park, in our wonderful 5th wheel trailer here in Yuma.
Polly showed everyone who would look the improvements,, and what she loved about our place we live, yes that’s my Polly, Love her, and how truly enthused she is about all we do.

“Wishing I could be like the cool kids” is the song on now, with John Tesh, he is now doing a commercial for some natural product, gee, can’t believe its happening
Now a super beta prostate commercial... OMG, oh to too much...

Bed time soon, will be wake early like usual, and writing in my mind before I actually write.

Yuma, here we are!

Yuma, here we are!

Our trip here was much easier to navigate, we were better prepared. We made a reservation the day before at Fortuna De Oro RV Resort east side of Yuma, we fuelled up the truck without the trailer on the day before, We contacted Don and Chris Wutke to make sure we were headed to the right place. We got directions from Star, camp host at Leaping Lizard RV Ranch. Polly made sandwiches ahead for lunch, as I got the truck washed (Not too good, minerals in the water so didn’t rinse good, was like the soap had dried before I rinsed. Another learning curve) and the trailer hooked up. Polly punched the address in our GPS, and off we went. Highway wasn’t too busy, and travel was relaxed.
We stopped at a rest stop about an hour out away from our destination, still in California, with sand dunes right beside it and sand buggies racing around on it. Was a minimal rest stop, with enough room for a pit stop, but services not to clean. A pee,(Bosco) too, sandwiches, and a drink, a short snooze, and off we go again.
Directions were good, and we got to Fortuna De Oro and checked in at about 4pm, parked and set up with help from Don and Polly, just in time for happy hour! Nice... Sat and had a beer with the Crew, Don and Chris Wutke, Rob and Dawn Newton, and Larry and Linda Tyler. Was a nice welcome, took some time to get re acquainted, and get a little familiar with our new surroundings.
Now we have to shop, so off we go to Walmart with directions. This went well, and we got back with our bags of goodies, and rushed through dinner so we could go for a walk with Don and Chris. Looks like a big place, with much to do, 2 pools, games to play, dances, card nights, and much more. After the tour, we came back, and seemed like no power to our trailer, so Polly and I read for awhile, had lights from our batteries, and went to bed early.
Next day off to the office to pay, and ask about the power prob. Got the guy to come and look, he turned the switch on and Voila, Power... Should have rechecked, but learning again. The girls went to water aerobics and Don and I went to the RV store, to get a few things. Before we even get in the store Don spots a car and we go take a look. Wow does this ever look cool, a Polaris that has only one rear wheel. We have a talk with the guy about it, and learn about this cool car. The guy says as we are about to leave, "We love you guys from Canada coming here, nice to have you come stay here with us." Was nice to hear, then we got political, and don't want to go there. Into the RV store...
After looking around, and buying very little we head home for lunch and a beer, now some BS in the warm sun, talk about what our plans are, what we will do next, and where we plan to go. Then the girls go shopping, and we, the boys go for a walk around the resort, we walk past many different RV's, with comments on some, and comparisons, what we liked and what we didn’t. Then a shortcut to the Tennis courts, no one playing, and Pickle ball courts, a few playing here. On to the Shuffle board and Boccie areas. We stop and play a game of Shuffle board, and Don and Larry beat Rob and I by a small amount, then we head over to the Boccie and Larry and I team up, but Don and Rob wax us by 4 points. Was a nice tour, and we headed back for happy hour, girls still shopping.
We yakked for a couple hours, and girls got home, with much vegetables and fruit, as well as a few other things. They joined in for happy hour, and told us of there day. Sun going down, wind coming up, so out comes the propane fire, and we stayed out later, and it helped to keep us warm while we joked and talked later in the evening. Dinner without a walk that night, and another early night.
Saturday Morning we wake to a beautiful day. Warm and still, we move a little slower this morning, was a busy day yesterday, water aerobics at the pool wore Polly out a little, sore arms she says. Today I decide time to sort out some of the stuff I have stored under the desk, and behind the TV, just get these areas sorted out. Funny how this energy comes on. I get it all tore apart, and I see Don get out and sit in one of the fire circle chairs, and I say to Polly, I’ll be back to get this sorted out, and off I go. A yak with Don, always worth it, not long after Rob comes over, then Larry, and we have a good ole chin wag, got to love the laid back way we are living. I did get back to the trailer, and Polly and I talked about shelves, and changes, but for now just stuffing things where we can will hold us over till we get back to the Island, and stay in one place for awhile.

The Crew was going to out to dinner tonight, we had dinner planned so stayed home. Before dinner I text Cathy Noel and Doug Coburn, who left the island about the same time as us and said to look em up. Text comes back, where you at? Fortuna De Oro, I text, again, text comes back, you are just across the highway from us. We were going out for a few things, so said we would meet up with them, and went to there RV spot, and had a visit with them. They had booked into a lot in a subdivision with one other couple where they had all services, but no big overhead, so much less that where were were to stay. Was nice to see Doug, and Cathy again, been awhile. Doug offers up a beer , and we sit outside along side there huge bus. Didn’t take long and Cathy and Polly pulled there chairs together, and wow Yak Yak, and Doug and I same, much to yak about. Short visit, we made plans to go to Mexico Monday, and we had to make or way back for dinner before the dance.
Saturday Night we went to the dance, starts at 7 ends at 10, first time to a dance that the band starts at 7pm. Polly and I are a little late, as dinner took time, Shish-kabobbs and rice, I could eat them everyday. Another beauty dinner, with some of the cheep (but good) wine we have been buying here in the Walmart.
Got dressed up a little, and off we went, to the north hall. Could hear the music outside, and when we got in found the crew, and sat down. Beers went down good, and music sounded good, we danced a few good ones, and the a few more, was a fun night. I noticed that many people seemed to be just going through the motions, dancing with no hmm... Wow! Polly and I still having WOW, and same with the rest of the crew, I decided this is because we are still truly alive, not just going through the motions. Life has WOW, and you always need that to truly live, my opinion Eh!

Lovin life here in Yuma...

Riverside to Borrego Springs, CA

Riverside to Borrego Springs, CA.
Was an easy drive, less traffic and smaller highways as we get closer to our destination, Leaping Lizard RV Ranch. Not sure what this place will look like, but the conversation I had as we left Riverside with Debora the owner made me feel like just what we would like. Polly is relaxed as we drive, she doesn’t like the heavy traffic, I can do it but rather be where I can drive with ease and stop and take a look as we go. The trip is uneventful just less stress, Polly hasn’t hit the floor with her foot for awhile, or said “Breeent!”, makes life easier.
We stop for a bathroom break, and lunch at a truck stop, and right beside us is a desert buggy that has a huge engine, and paddle tires. We have been passing RV’s on the other side of the highway going toward LA for miles with some form of desert wagons on trailer behind them. Now I look around, and all the trailers are toy haulers, I now know there must have been a race event this past Presidents weekend. Good we were out of the fray.
Polly makes a couple sandwiches and we sit and enjoy lunch in the shade of a freight truck. No snooze today, trying to get away from this right now, waking up in the night. As we leave a jacked up pickup is at the edge of the lot in the sand doin doughnuts, still haven’t had enough I think. Dirt bikes all over the place, with young kids on them, playing in the desert. This is the entertainment here for all those that are in the city, and want to play in the desert, ATV’s and all sorts of sand buggies, and motor cycles. Not for me now, back wouldn’t take it, looks like fun though.
We make it to Leaping Lizard, and meet Deb, and get the low down on where we will stay, and what rules are. No Cell, or WiFi, well very limited, I say intermittent now. After she guides me to our spot, which really helps, we get setup then a Margarita is in order. Polly and I talk about how nice the trip here went, only 4 hrs as we have talked about in the past, don’t want to travel to far each move, want to make this life fun, and relaxed, and stop as we go and look around. Stopping isn’t easy with trailer, so will look around more once set up, with truck only.
Next day we take Bosco for a walk and meet another couple who have been doing same as us, they are from Florida, and are slowly making there way west. They told us about a few places we should see, and we head out to Borrego Springs as there recommendation is to go to the library for internet, in every town. Best place to get strong WiFi, and as told it was good. Made a few posts on FB, and sent a couple e-mails, and a few Messenger calls. That done we go get a couple things from the market, Polly says wow, was expensive there, shop in Yuma when we move. Now we drive around and stop at the “Christmas Circle” A huge roundabout in centre of town that also has free wifi. We have lunch, and listen to music in the park as today musicians come and play. Warm, and beautiful day, we now make our way to Fonts point to view an over look of the bad lands as were told to see. 4 miles in on a lumpy road, seemed to be not to bad, but later my back sore from all the lumping around in the desert. The view from here was worth it though, WOW, was something I have never seen before, Polly loved it too, but not comfortable getting close to the edge, so she went back to the truck. I went up a little furthere, and a little closer to the edge. After taking a few beauty pictures, I decided to take a panorama shot. New phone, and I couldn’t figure it out, so decided to take a live shot on FB. Well that turned into a folly, I didn’t know how to turn it off after it started, and thought it was on pause, while I looked around for a sign saying the name of the place, took way to much time, and was recording all the time. What a screw up. Live and learn hey! Was a beauty spot, and learned not to live video...
Next day we wake to wind, wow really windy, so we decide to stay another day, and make a trip Polly liked the sound of, Julian Bakery in Julian. So off we went on the windy road up 4000 ft plus, and colder it got, glad we brought jackets, was 47 degrees F Brr.. We went to the bakery after driving through town, finding a place to park was tough, many others came for pie too I guess. Touristy small town with a past. Haven’t looked up the past, but we decide after a piece of there wonderful Apple pie, that we will come back when not so cold and wander around.
On the drive back we turn off and go to hot springs RV Park we were told of, Aqua Calientie. We get there after going through a box canyon with a historical past, Dug out with hand tools in the 1800’s, you can still see the trail through the rock alongside the highway.
We arrive at the hot springs, we drive through the park, looks nice, but not sure we will take the trailer here, may come in truck again, and enjoy the springs, but was in middle of nowhere, a little too off the grid for us right now.
On the way back I decide to stop and take a picture of cactus with the sun behind them, been looking at them all the way, I know what I want, and stop at just the right place. I get out, Polly says she will stay put. I walk off into the desert in my shorts, and flip flops, watching my footing. I get the shots I want, of Cactus, and flowering Cactus. On my way back, I didn’t watch my footing as close, and get a small cactus in the toe, as well as stuck to the front of my flip flop. OUCH, I have to pull the flip flop off to get the cactus off my foot, and the pick out the prickles, man they are hard to get out, like a barb holds them in. No more getting into the desert with flip flops...
Today we move to Yuma and spend a week seeing what that place is all about. Will meet up with friends, Don and Chris Wutke, looking forward to this.

I love the desert, just not the prickles

Today we move, geddy up baby

Early in morning I wake again here in Riverside, with the sound of the train going by in the distance. Love the low thundering sound as it approaches, then the horn for long and short blasts, I understand how people can miss that sound. Has been a nice place to stay here at Rancho Jurupa Park, it is a Riverside County park, which I didn’t know when looking for a place close to LA to stay, without venturing right into the city. This has made a good stop to get organized, get a phone, and get online again, get things in order inside trailer, and truck, then yesterday Polly Bosco and I walked around the park, saw some of what there was to do here. The pond is close, and has ducks, and diving birds like, loons, as well as big white birds like herons. There were many people fishing, and some were catching small trout, Power bait was the ticket we were told. One trout we saw caught by one of the diving birds caused much squawking and fighting as the others all wanted the fish, but the bird who caught it managed to eat it on the fly. The grounds are wet and mushy as you walk around as water still draining through the grass from the rains, and duck crap everywhere. Polly got some in her flip flop, that was cause for some concern till she cleaned it off. We sat on a beanch not to far from all the fishermen, and one fisherwoman, and watched. First to catch one we saw was the woman. Polly was all about “Of course the woman gets the fish!”. People clap, and Polly is laughing. After awhile Bosco saw a dog that was chasing a ball off leash and started to bark, we couldn’t quiet him so had to leave, was kinda odd, but he was on leash, and wanted off? Not sure.
We went back for the trailer and waited for Patty and Falavio to arrive from the city, we were ti visit, been awile since we had seen them. They were later than expected, as company the night before, so Polly and I played crib, she beat me 3 times in a row, then she let me win one, and I quit at that as was to have a nap. Nap turned into truck cleaout as box had oil in it from an oil container spill, so gave the oil to the neighbour, as he ad diesel truck, and I didn’t want it. He was happy.
Train again, nice.
Patty and |Flavio came around 2pm and we had a real good visit, lots to catch up on. Flavio had a nap he was beat. I understand, but still had to take a picture of him. We yakked the afternoon away, then they took us for dinner to The Sire, a local bar/pub that was recommended to us by Linda a friend who saw a post on Facebook that we were in Riverside, said best taco she ever had. Turned out that was only on Wednesday nights. We did have good dinners, and more talk, saw many of Flavios pictures of Brzil, he liked the idea of buying land there, a small resort he would make it into, but Patty was not going for that. Was a good evening, Flavio drove, he has a new car a Chevy Volt, we learned some about the car, and about electric vehicles in general.
Next time we come to LA Flavio says to me stay closer, on the beach, Huntington has a nice place to stay. Have to get that info from him next time before we come, and try to get a little closer to them, or maybe just come back here, was a nice stay. Today we leave for Eastern California, and Arizona area. Will be nice to travel again.
Bosco gets up and wants some loving now, funny how dogs want to be close. Got to love em.
He will be back in bed in a minute, as I’m done here.

Trip to Riverside, CA

We did a few things wrong today, but ended up OK anyway. The rain in the morning, along with John and Carole leaving kinda threw me off to start. I didn’t get fuel as I should have before I hooked up the trailer, and didn’t get a phone yet before we left. Coulda, shoulda, woulda kinda day today was. We got trailer on OK, and didn’t have a reservation for where we were going to go, so I stopped at the visitor centre and got on there WI-fi and tried to make a reservation, but no go, so went to phone, and no answer. Hmm, well lets go and see what we get when we get there. Not the first mistake, just one of many. We headed south on 101 to a beach where people park there rigs and look at the water, some surfers, and some just enjoy the water view. I take Bosco for a walk while Polly makes lunch. I walk about 3 motor homes up, at the end of the breakwater, and turn around, a pair of woman's glasses on the ground, o well, Polly said she wanted better sunnys. I got back and put the glasses on the table, Polly noticed them as we had lunch, she was very surprised, and happy. KS on the side of them, Kate Spade, designer glasses she calls em, guess she likes em alright. Now Bosco and I nap, Polly reads her book. When I wake all is well, and we make our way toward Ventura. The GPS says turn here and we do, I see a sign that says truckers stay on 101, hmm o well, we go with GPS. The highway way is good, just one lane each way, but nice and newly paved most of the way, in the middle few miles was old road, but not too much. Had a reservoir overlook we stopped at, nothing to big, but when we were leaving we noticed a dam below, must have been the overlook planned, we just stopped too soon. The hill we got to was steep to go up, and the fuel was going down, 1/2 tank turned to 1/4th and we now were worried. Well coming down off this hill was even more concerning, we did OK, but was very steep, and windy, but all was good when we got to the bottom. Back on the 101, and now want a fuel stop. Well all are gas stations, no diesel here, so after a few stops we turn on data, and use gas buddy to find a station. We had to back track 10 miles, but was worth it rather than run out.
Now back on the highway, and we get to Ventura, and was colder and foggy looking, we decide to go for Riverside and the campsite instead of stopping. Now the fun starts, 3pm and the rush hour is starting. We put up with that for the next 3 hrs, was one we will remember, I will try not to put Polly thru that again. Looked like an innocent highway on the map, but stop and go at the merges all then way to Riverside.
We made it, and to a gate that we couldn’t get through, another camper let us in, but were stopped and the ranger said, there were spots available, but we have all shut down now, so have to camp out till tomorrow, can’t camp here. Now what, Walmart for the night. Well this wasn’t too bad, got a few things, I notice mostly Mexican people in this Walmart and wonder about the area. Polly performed her magic and we had a nice dinner from some of the leftover chicken the night before, with eggs and veggies, (Oh yea had stir fry the night before I remember now). We had a good sleep parking lot sleep.
We wake to a quiet morning in the parking lot with all the wally-workers going in to start thier day. We head up the lot to a Jack in the box for a coffee, and a breaky sandwich. Was nice and peaceful in there too, no WiFi but getting used to that here. I notice a difference here, in BC we have WiFi free most everywhere, here not as common. The usual people in the restaurant, friendly, but some of the down trodden off the street show up, many around USA, more close to the city.
Now into Walmart one more time for the coffee Polly spotted last night, and we make a call to the RV Park, and yes we have a spot for you, so we roll on over to Rancho Jurupa Park, Riverside CA. We check in to a spot, and I ask for the others spots (there are 3) that are available so he marks them on our map of the campsites, and off we go to look around. The spot are booked into Polly and I agree not for us, we look at the other 3 and then make another pass through, yep #27 is best for us Polly says, so back to the ranger station Polly goes to make the change with Bosco, while empty the holding tanks, as was no dump at Pismo Beach campsite. We went around that spot another 6-7 times before we realized the people had another spot reserved, and wouldn’t leave till 1pm, so we parked and did laundry, and had showers. Polly makes a lunch, and we stay in the parking lot till after 1pm, then we go to move in to our spot and gee rain starts. Not too bad, we managed to back in first try, nice choice Polly, we had no huge puddles from the rain as many others did last night. Poured like on the coast, but they issued a flash flood warning on the radio, going to have 1-1/2 inches of rain tonight, the whole months worth in a few hours, warnings come in on our phone, and a truck driving around broadcasting warnings on the other side of the river. Sure got us wondering, got in truck and went to visitor ctr passing 2 mallards on the way in a depression in then road feeding LOL, and asked Flooding? No problem they say, wouldn’t be flooding, just warning as places on the road get flooded, and cars may hit them and go off the road. We feel safer now, will sleep better.
Later come another family who proceed to setup camp in the dark, and the rain. Man did I feel for the couple, but not enough to get out and help. Was a real crappy night, I have been out in those many times, and tonight wasn’t my night to be out. They made camp, and we listened from inside with our fireplace going and radio on broadcasting the flash flood every once in awhile. Felt nice to be warm and dry. The end to a more relaxed day then yesterday.
Today wake to neighbour with two Pitbulls, not as happy with this site anymore, will pack Bosco in and out of the truck, don’t want to see him get ate up.
Off to get a phone soon, got to have connection with the outside world re internet.

Still lovin life...

Huge rock at Morro Bay

Last day in Pismo

Last day in Pismo we spent on the beach. Loaded people, dogs, chairs, beer, and a few snacks and headed for the beach. Haven’t taken a car on the beach for years, and the sign says 4X4 recommended. I have 4X4, but many cars come on without. Is an odd feeling as people drive all over, like they have instantly forgotten rules of the road, cross in front of you, pass on wrong side, just felt free, and weird at the same time. The sand did feel mushy underneath my wheels, but never stuck, stayed above where the water came up to. We toured the south end of the beach, where the quads were permitted as far as a small creek, and then drove as far north as we could, where the dogs could get a walk in without a leash. Went as far as visitor centre, no cars past here. We walked to North Beach Campsite, which was closed, and walked up close to the dunes. Carole was surprised how much it had changed in a few months as water had taken away much of the foreground sand at the edge of the beach. Been allot of rain here over the last months, causing much concern.
Now we walk back to the truck, Polly & I pickin at what we see on the shoreline, saving a few rocks, and the dogs just enjoying the freedom. John and I break out the chairs while the girls go up to the visitor centre for a pee. We all settle into a warm afternoon yak, and a few peanuts with our beer, just what was planned. Sun wasn’t steady, but warm enough to loose my shirt for awhile. As we talk a few horses with riders come by us, and then a couple huge horses Clydesdale's with big long manes and long hair on there legs too, beautiful looking. After a couple hours we pile back in the truck and head for the campsite. Carole and Karlee “Pita” (pain in the ass John calls her) walk back. We make a stop at the camp host’s site, and get a few armloads of wood, and John starts a fire when we get back.
Nap time, I’m getting used to this part of the day. When I wake the fire is going nicely, and we have a few more beer, and start talking about the depart tomorrow. The new neighbours, a young couple from Wyoming move in he puts up the tent, and we watch as we talk, and his girlfriend/wife directs. He did a good job, tent looks good, then he walks over to introduce himself, Woof Woof, he backs up, but doesn’t seem to be bothered by Karlee, Hmm I think, not to bright. They want to know where to shop, so Polly tells them Vons, and off they go. As John and I talk Politics, Carole is busy getting everything packed, and ready for tomorrow, as they will leave early, 8am. She is like a busy bee, here and there just so much getting ready, even gets John to help me with the big mat we have down, good she did as rained in morning as we were getting ready to go. Was good to be packed up and ready, Thanks Carole. Polly now in the trailer cookin something, or reading her book, or both.
Just before dinner the new campers next to us come home, and he proceeds to light the fire, dark now
he has BBQ briquettes and is dumping the whole bag in the fire pit, and puts on the liquid gas and lights it, then more gas, and more gas, Now I am wondering about this guy? Then after awhile he comes over again, Karlee was inside this time, and asks us if we like poetry? Kinda stunned, he explains it is a new kinda poetry. Hmm what to say, how about after dinner I say, we are just about to eat.
We had a nice dinner, spicy chicken, salad, ? ? I can’t remember everything, was good anyway. We never did go back out to the fire, just sat inside the trailer and yakked till we all agreed bedtime.
Morning came and we were all ready to go, so coffee and we started with the truck, and John and Carole were off early like planned. Reminded me of when they left our subdivision in Ladysmith, in the motor home and off they went. See you in 6 months!

Pismo Beach

Pismo Beach Sunday to meet John and Carole, friends from Ladysmith who have been here before and wanted to share some time and show us around this beautiful place.
Was a fast and furious trip south, but we did get here in the early evening, so got to enjoy a campfire with J&C, and Karlee there German Shepard. She was happy to see us again, especially happy to see Bosco.
We met another camper from BC, Kevin. He is doing an around the world trip on his motor cycle, he was a sales and marketing team leader for a Harley Davidson dealer in BC. He has had this plan for years now, and when his relationship with his wife ended, he fast tracked it, sold the house, and now he’s off. He has a website www.worldoverland.ca we will be checking on as he goes, sure was nice to meet him, and learn about his plans.
Monday morning was a little foggy to start, was fun meeting last night but a few too much tipping back. We are at Pismo State beach park south, and 7:30 am the park ranger knocks ever so lightly on the door. Holy crap I think, I’m supposed to get up and say goodbye to Kevin, and make a coffee. I dress and rush to the door thinking John or Kevin, and instead a woman park ranger asking me to move our truck off the grass. OK I say, she was very pleasant, and said may have to move our trailer as no room in our site for the truck. We got this resolved later, the homeless people that the other ranger warned us about “thieves” he said “watch your stuff”, said we could park the truck in their parking as they had no car. That worked out just great, and we could walk to the truck easy. So far nothing missing, but having Carly & Bosco around helps if people want to come close to the campsite.
Warm, sunny, sandy & relaxing is how I would describe Friday, no desire to do much other than get re acquainted with our friends, and soak in the warm sun, and look around the campsite and the sand dunes and the beach. Pictures, this is the first time I get the camera out and take a few pics, the flowers on the dunes are just so brilliant and colourful, bright yellow and purple, and butterfly's every where. On the way here I saw many thing I would loved to capture, but driving a truck and trailer really limits what you can do. Not easy to pull over so pictures have to be in my mind. The last part of our trip into the valley of southern California we saw the most brilliant green mountains and fields. The rain here has watered everything so much that flooding is everywhere, even the north beach campsite where John and Carole usually go, was flooded and has been shut down for 2 months. We came and the sun came out just for us, so we will head east when the rains predicted to come again Thursday.
Yesterday, Valentines Day Polly and I exchange cards have a big kiss, and coffee is the start, with J&C around the unlit fire pit this morning. We plan our trip to Morrow bay, never been there I thought. Turns out when we get there and see the huge rock in the bay I remember being there on a previous trip with Polly from LA to San Francisco a few years ago.
We drove around with 2 dogs and 4 of us in the truck, got a good look around, first stop just out of the state park for a walk with the dogs, and a look around. Touristy kind of place with access to the water front taken mostly by buildings. We walked to the outer edge of the town, and got where the dogs had a little more room. John and I took to the bench, while Polly and Carole walked on with the dogs past a couple fishermen. Polly has to yak it up, saying she will give em some luck as they hadn’t done so well yet. On there way back, yep Polly gave em some luck aright, got a big to them, black perch. Polly was happy to say “See I gave you some luck eh!”
We stopped at a dog friendly patio restaurant on the waters edge, and had clam chowder and a beer, Alaska amber, was good. Sun warm, getting red on the face now, and loving it. We get back in the truck and tour the rest of the town, The Big rock, and the sand dune on the other side of the bay is very prominent in the town, but so are the 3 huge smoke stacks from an electrical generating station from the past. I think must have been coal fired.
Now for a look around at the state park campsite, not bad but we agree we like where we are better. We drive out of town to another campsite, and state park with a beach and hiking trails, but nothing we would stay at, just confirmed we had best spot for us.

We had all agreed to go out for dinner tonight, but not where till we got back, Beach Burgers down the road was the destination, walk not drive. Now this was a good decision, was a small burger place close to the water, just outside the park, and burgers were hand made, and man were they good. Was a nice way to spend Valentines, no fire tonight, we all were ready for wind down now. Tomorrow we take the truck on the beach, with all our beach gear, and lunch and have a beach day. This should be another new experience.

Sunday Morning Lodi, CA

Sunday morning in Lodi, California at Flag City RV Resort. Hmm Resort, well a nice place to stay after a long drive from BC to California. Three days on the road, 1st from Crofton to Port Angeles Ferry in Victoria, through slush, snow, and pouring rains we pushed forth knowing warmth and sun would come forth. Nice evening at the Seven Feathers Casino, where we hooked up to power for free, and kept things warm, and Bosco with some music so he wouldn’t feel so lonely, while we had dinner, and dropped a few coins.
Just heard the birds outside, sounds like spring here, beautiful sound first thing (6am) in the morning. Loving life... Even Bosco’s head is up wondering what that sound is!
Sleep was good Thursday night, and woke up cool weather with winds rising, and rain on its way. Coffee and a chat with Polly, a walk with Bosco, and off we go before 8am. Rain and wind day alright, blowin strong, and rain same, and we push through to the sun.
After about 1/2 hr, we see a flat bed semi parked in the ditch, I mean really in the ditch. The ditch is about 6 ft deep and the truck is perfectly parked, trailer and all in the ditch! I say “That's not the way to park!” Polly laughs, and we push on. A picture we had on our newly purchased Dash cam, but did we know how to preserve it? Not yet, but will learn as we go. The rain and wind keep getting harder as we make our way along hwy 101 to Olympia, and I-5. The water is beside us, and we saw many times when would be nice to have a picture, but not too inviting to take a sap. Road is narrow, and weather just not a good time. So Polly and I talk about when we will take a little more time next time we make this trip, and spend some time to stop and look around here.
Polly asks things I can’t answer, and always tests my sense of Hmm. She makes me think harder than I want to sometimes... LOL Asking as we drive along, How will they get that truck out of the ditch? OK I think, as I drive through the rain, wind, and windy road, How would they? I say the can’t just pull it out sideways, and pulling it back would be a loss as too far, must have driven 200 ft before it stopped. I say Crane and have to stop traffic for awhile. This satisfies my honey, and we push on to the sun, as the rains keep coming.
The drive is beautiful, with water on our left as we go almost all the way to Olympia. Really a beautiful place to drive, and see.
Polly is up now wondering “What time is it?” now back to bed... Love my Polly.
We make it onto I-5 and get to Chehalis, time to get some fuel, and a couple of snacks, and drinks.
Polly now asks “Is there coffee on now?” Yep she is awake, and will be up soon, Polly takes a little time to get up, but she doesn’t run outa energy and need a nap like me during the day. Reminding me of last night she says “I dreamed of Turtles all night!” I laugh, as we had no TV when we went to bed, and she had to work her way to sleep, I should tell her a story! LOL so I did, and she will remember that one for awhile... Was a fun way to go to sleep for both of us. Time to get on with our day, more later.

Oh, I almost forgot, Sunny, with birds singing, Polly laughing, and Bosco and at my side. Just a short drive to Pismo Beach today! Will Meet John, Carole and Karlee. Loving this life...
