Sunday, WOW, already Cinco de Mayo

Sunday May 5th, Cinco de Mayo = 5th of May in Spanish. A day where American's celebrate, why I'm really not sure. I look it up and find what happened then, in 1862, a Mexican army won a battle against a much larger & better equipped French army. This day is not a holiday in Mexico, and celebrating is not so big, yet it is in America for some reason.

Today I know of one celebration that happened, a friend I know that's not on FB has a birthday today, I'll call and wish him a happy Birthday. 🎁

We are going to Tofino today, first time since they started the blasting on the hill on the highway there. Be nice to see the changes. Well visit a friend we met here at Arrowvale, and a friend we know that has lived in Tofino for many years. Be a nice trip I'm sure.

Yesterday I went to the Spirit Square Farmers Market to sell a few of my sign ideas, and planters I've been making. Was a really good experience. A friend Ted came after awhile and hung out with me, we had a really good visit, he helped man my goods while I took a few breaks, but mostly we talked while people came by looking at my display.

I wasn't as prepared as I could have been, but I got many ideas for next weekend, along with a couple orders, one for a sign, and one for a trellis. Also many ideas on how to improve the booth I've setup.

One woman came by and asked if she could make a sign like mine, her way? I really didn't understand at first, then once I did I said "Yes, by all means!" So she tried on a piece of wood I gave her, but was too rough, so I brought out my sander, and voila, she went to work. This attracted more attention from others, and things got interesting. Her friend was from Vancouver, he said when she started "Your in for a treat" as he knew the artist she is.
My sign in blue was routed out, so I painted in the letters after I made it that morning, this woman painted freehand her sign.

        signs have the same message

yet a much different look, I learned here.
She really is an artist 🎨

I like all that I'm making, who's to say how you spend your time when you are closer to the end of your life than the beginning?

I say to people, I worked in the woods I worked in the mill, I know wood, so now I get to transform the wood into something I like. Sometime it's for $ many times it's for a friend, but mostly it's for fun.

After the market Ted helped me pack up, then we went for lunch, for a burger 🍔 a bacon 🥓 cheese 🧀 burger in memory of Chris my son, and Ted's best friend. I've gotten closer to Ted since Chris passed, and I believe this bond will get stronger as time goes forward.

We had a good lunch, Chris came up a few times, but it's not all about Chris, we have much that we both do that keeps us taking, he's a carpenter, and I'm interested in this, he has children and a wife, and a busying life. I felt good that he took the time on a Saturday to come spend some time with this old fart.

We parted after, possible lookout hike in the future, and I head home. Polly had been busy as I knew she would, baking muffins. Mmm 😋

then after I finished the sign I got an order for, we went to get her the flowers for her planter we made this week. We won't stay long here, till July, but we'll enjoy this while we are here.

Then a nap, and off we went to creekers pub, meeting Lyn & Andrew for a beer and a yak, oh, and Keno 😀

When we get home I go out to build a trellis I said I'd do for a woman that wants one for her plants on her balcony. Polly she makes butter tarts, "got to have something to give Sonny when we go visit tomorrow" she says.

What a couple hey,
sure do love this life ❤️
Sure do love my wife 🤗
