With a fifth we had stability on the road, a truck to move around in when we'd parked, and the size, well that started out at 29', then to 32' now to 35' with our present trailer a 337 Reflection. Where I'm going with this is we tried to keep it small yet big enough that our home is not more than we need. Comfortable, and yet not too much for our truck is how we see it now. I've never felt we had too much power in the truck, just enough.
Where I'm going with this is we have all we want in a trailer and truck. My thoughts when a camper came and setup his tent beside us last week were hmm, what a difference! A tent ⛺ in a site that fit upto a 40' RV. This kind of surprised me. I just thought that the campground would have only bigger RVs in sites that are suited for upto 40'.
Then I got thinking, how much do we as humans need when we travel? For us we live full time in our home, so this size is acceptable? Ok? Reasonable? Just right? Or all the above. I looked at the tent beside us, with the single chair 🪑 ⛺ and thought to myself once again, how much do we really need?
Compareitvley in this photo I took they was so different in size that it got me thinking, how much do we really need?
I met the man that camped beside us one day, Dale is his name, we talked a bit. He was interesting, and in taking he asked many questions about the trailer and truck, how big the trailer, how heavy, the truck have any trouble pulling it, all the questions we have answered before by many, just in his case I looked at his camping beside us and said to him I'd taken a photo of the size, and planned to write about it. How much do we need?
He smiled and thought good idea, and we continued to talk. Dale is a painter, an artist from a family of artists. He paints with oil, so when he setup, and left two paintings on the table beside us, Polly was worried that they might get spoiled, the rain might damage them. When I talked with him he said, water would do no damage, oil just beeds the water off.
We had three or more separate conversations, and in one he after a few questions about our trailer and truck said, "I'll stick with my tent!" I understand, this fits his kind of camping perfectly, as ours fits us perfectly.
About here in many stories I've read the writer would say "The moral of the story is!" I'm just going to say I learned after some conversation and thought that we Dale and Polly and I have just what we need and want to camp where we are. How we look at it when side by side is not important, it's does it fit for you.
I'm sitting inside our trailer this Sunday morning, writing on a phone, that was changed by the battery that is a part of our trailer, we are plugged in to the post beside us, I'm listening to the vehicle's going by as I look over the tree tops and fog, or cloud's. Polly is busy getting ready to travel, we've had our first cup of coffee ☕ made here in our trailer.
We stayed a night here in Hinton in a campground that was older, but perfect for us, had good wi-fi, so able to watch TV last night, this morning Polly couldn't get a channel, so off she went to some cleaning getting ready. Me I let my coffee ☕ get cold to write here. We all have choices.
I unhooked the trailer yesterday, knowing that dinner out would be aways away, good I did, Polly said don't bother, but I wanted to drive to the restaurant, I thought it be aways. Good I did, we fueled up, and went to dinner as the sky's poured rain. Nice to be in a trailer and truck when the sky's full of rain.
As I said, we all have choices, ours fits up perfectly, as Dale's does him.
I've connected with Dale on FB as I have with many others, will hopefully connect again, was really nice getting to know him, even if a short time, I felt connected.
That's a part of the life we live traveling that I love, being close to each other we can and do reach out and connect with people that we meet along our journey.
Although if you know me, that's me, I like to talk, and I'm interested in others. I wonder who I'll meet today on our way to Grande Prairie? Doesn't take long to meet a friend, learn something, about them, or about me? 😀
I guess I'll drink my coffee ☕ now, and get ready to travel. Polly is playing solitaire at the table, got all her stuff done, ready to travel now.
Sure do love this life we chose. ❤️
