Sunday 12 May 2024

Mother's Day Sunday, whatcha wana do Polly.

We could go for a visit with, so many friends and family. I'm not sure what we'll do, maybe nothing, but it's Polly's day to do as she feels like. I'll do no work today, well now I'm lying, as early I'm going to clean up a bit, built all I want for now. Another beauty day ahead feeling like summer has arrived early.

The market was a bust yesterday, not sure I'm going to get many sales there. Marketplace on FB, that's where I've got most intrest & sales. That way of selling has worked well. I still have many ideas to make, I'll start again on Monday. I promised myself I'd make another bench this year, I think I'll work on that Monday.

Was a fun day Friday, finished off 4 boxes I had all cut up from day before, was a very hot sweaty day, but finished off about 3:30, put stuff away, had a shower and off we went to Nanaimo for a bit of music 🎡 🎢 with Murray McLaughlin at the port Theater.

First we went to the casino, dinner was really good there, then a few minutes of watch the money go away, neither of us won. I cursed myself for even putting in anything, but Polly was really happy to play. Ahh now I remember what Polly wants to do today, casino, I'd forgotten till just now. Oh and the hockey πŸ’ game tonight tooπŸ‘

Murray McLaughlin was good, he tells a story with every song, he was very relaxed as he gave us a few words about most every song he played. His last was his best about thanking the farmers. We left before the big rush, as everyone was clapping πŸ‘ πŸ‘ πŸ‘ trying for an encore.

On the way home we both looked up, Polly especially as we went by Cameron Lake, wanting to see the northern lights, but no luck. As we got out of the truck at home though I looked up and saw what looked like a jet had gone by kinda, but different. Like it started in the middle of the sky and went both ways.

I said to Polly, "do you think that might be the northern lights"  we watched as it got bigger, then colours came, I went and knocked on Darcy & Pats door, they came out and we watched as the sky put on the most fantastic show. What a beautiful way to end a great day Polly said, was so great to see for our first time.

Bed after, we were both tired. Was a great day.

Yesterday we had friends call before dinner and came for a visit after Frank & Wendy & their pup Moo. Was nice to talk with them, Wendy is excited going to visit her kids and grandkids in Ontario, happy to see them all, been 5 years she said a few times. Frank will stay with here with moo. Was nice reconnecting with them, we did see them last year for a month before they left, been almost a year.

I just realized, that's something I did get at the market. I got to visit with many people, as they came to shop, or came to support there kids or grandkids. 4H had a booth this time, so kids were well represented. I did go by their booth about 11:00 when I got hungry, got some rice crispy squares, πŸ˜‹ Mmm. When I told Polly in the evening, she asked "where are they" of course I said "I ate em " πŸ˜‹

I guess that's the best part of the market, you get lots of visitors as they pass by. Sheryl stopped by, Don & Bev, Trina, and her niece, Greg stopped in, Carly came early as she and her daughter are in 4H. Gerry came by, had a good chat with him.
Oh, and John, he has his booth setup right behind me, we talked a bit too. The market was really good if I think of the visiting I got in, I guess I have to look at the best part of this time, not sales, but visiting with friends as I maybe get intrest in my planters, or gain interest in my signs and other woodworking.

I'm committed to going again next Saturday, but I'm thinking I'm going to be thinking a little bit different next week.

Coffee ☕ is great this morning, rooster πŸ“ is taking a break, he gaver for 5-5:20, oops, there he goes again. Yep another great Sunday, days and week's just keep rollin by, soon be time to pack up and travel north. I booked the ferry already, August 8th is leave the island time again. I'm thinking next year we'll stay a little longer here, I'm liking the woodshop, and getting better at enjoying the moment as I build something useful.

I'm going to walk today, I've been taking it easy as the standing while I cut everything up, and put it together has been hard on my legs, so no workin today, so I'll walk early. Always really nice walking on a Sunday, no traffic, not that their is much, but early Sunday none.

I'll wait till the sun's up before I go, be a nice way to start the day. Ahh, well this is really how I start, a few words on this phone, that's something I really like too.

Can't get much better, life is good here at Arrowvale.

Penny & I went to a memorial service, for a man I never knew yesterday. Brian was married to Michelle, who babysat for us when our kids were young. I hadn't seen her for years, yet with FB I did get a look into her life once in awhile.

When I saw he died, I was shocked. I felt for Michelle as he was young. Even though I didn't know him, I felt for her.

We said Hi to all her family, and a few friends, Penny did ok, she cried, but had control over it, as I think it's hard for her, because of Chris passing. Everything seems to come back to this now. Penny was glad she did good, I'm happy for her, it's been hard.

Life does go on, we all move on, but that hook that pulls at us never really stops.

Ya just go on, best you can.

Well that got my face a little wet, sometimes ya just gotta cry, it helps, even after what seems like a long time. It hits ya, just get wet, then well, move on.

I'm going to get my second coffee ☕ and go for a little wander around here. Be my start to a walk.

Yep life is good if ya can see the sunny side of it.

Love our life ❤️

Wednesday 8 May 2024

6:06am, up to another beauty day.

I woke early again, sleep came early as well, I waited for the birds to start chirping this morning, but I just had to get up before they started. The rooster πŸ“πŸ“ started not long after I got up. Made coffee ☕, boy is it good.

Full time in a trailer isn't for everyone, but it sure fits our life. Aging isn't for everyone either, but it beats the alternative. I'm sore this morning, I don't have arthritis, but I'm still sore, doing too much gives that kinda sore. At the same time it feels good 😊. I think to myself "I'll take it easy today, then I laugh, I know if I have something I've said to myself I'll do, that I like doing, I'll be on it!

This year I realized I can continue to make things that I enjoy making where ever I go, with the battery operated tools it's easier. There light, portable, and not too expensive, so my hobby comes wherever I go now.

Polly on the other hand, baking is her passion, and dam she sure does a great job of it. I finished the last buttertart yesterday after dinner, she said thanks, she already had her share too. When I finished it I wonder what will show up next.

I have a couple more planter boxes to make today, and a few signs I said I'd produce for the weekend to display at the market. Be a really nice morning there this weekend, warm sunny days ahead.

          my stock's getting depleted

I'm kinda rambling today, no real solid point. I did start to plan our trip when we leave here for Grande Prairie, we want to stop in the Okanagan this year, we planned it last year, but the fires kept us away, hope we can make it this year.

A little town in B.C. came up in reading something this morning I'd never heard of before Savona, so I put it in the search window, and it's at the west end of Kamloops lake. I'm thinking we'll have to go check it out on our way north this year, has a provincial Park at that end of the lake, might be a nice place to stay for a few nights, if we can get a site.

Today another beauty outside, I'll use up some more wood today, got a guy coming wants 6 boxes, 44"x16"x24" tall 12" deep. I'm going to see if he'll change his dimensions a little so I can use half a pallet for the bottom, just might save a lot of work.

The days are flying by, Canuck's hockey πŸ’ tonight poker game also tonight, tomorrow Thirsty Thursday πŸΊπŸ˜€ be nice, will see Sonny one last time before he heads outta Port Alberni. He became a regular face I'd see here at Arrowvale last month, as he'd go for his wash up every day and pass by our campsite. We had a few beers together, and talked a bit, been nice getting to know him. He said he's committed to coming to visit us in Yuma next March when we are there, look forward to this.

I took a few photos yesterday for Ann here, she's creating wool hats, and wanted a photo for showing them off. Was a quick photo shoot, but fun, the two girls that work for here, and Ann modeled Ann's hats.

               Big smile's all around

I hear Polly stiring now, guess it's time I went outside and got busy. Can't use any equipment yet, 6:40, too early. But I'll get the boards I choose ready. Make a plan, then start about 9am. I'll go for a walk today too.

The meandering of an early riser πŸ˜€

Polly says she got a sore back this morning, as I've said before, this gettin old isn't for the faint of heart ❤️

Polly says was a funny dream, can't share here, not pretty 🀣 she said.

I do really love this life.

Meeting people as they come pickup the planters I've made, is interesting, always a new face, all with a little time to talk. The market is the same, so many people to meet. Dam life is good!
