We've gone to the Birds here at Alabama at Gulf State Park...

We've gone to the Birds here at Alabama at Gulf State Park...

Pulled in here Thursday from New Orleans, went through 2 states in a few hours. Mississippi, and Alabama are very short trips across on I-10. Since then we have seen much wildlife, alive this time.
During our trip across USA we have seen much wildlife dead on the road, Skunks on the west coast, then armadillos through Texas, and now we see a few snakes, and a couple alligators, since being in Louisiana and now we are approaching Florida and being in a state park we have seen many birds, so many that I got my Nikon out to start getting a few decent photos. Here at the state park we have seen many birds that we don’t see in Canada, even a squirrel that has Bosco doing circles, and wining wanting to get out and chase him. Lots of live wildlife here, and they are not afraid as when other places we have been.

Our lane we are camped on, makes you feel real safe here...

Grackle, is what this ones named. Quieter here, but loud and noisy in Texas

Doves always present here, coo coo is there call until they have a stand off

Yesterday we took a walk to the Pier (without Bosco as no dogs allowed) and saw some great sights. Many people fishing, and all there gear was interesting, but the best shots I got were of the Pelicans, they were posing everywhere for us. Diving for fish, and sitting on the hand rails warming up after being in the water fishing all morning. Was a photo lovers dream, to have birds so close that stayed still, or moved slowly. Sure was fun, Polly and I wandered along and asked questions as we went, people were friendly, and was much to see.

Here is some info about the pier you may like, I did.

Told you I wouldn't touch you...

I see you!

In the afternoon, after we both had a nap, we went to FloraBama for dinner, and some entertainment. This place is advertised as the last true roadhouse of the gulf, and we wanted to see what it was like. We arrived just as the cover-charge kicked in at 6pm, paid and went into what was somewhat empty club area, Got a drink, and followed the music to an area like we remember as the loft in Courtenay.
We stood for awhile and watched and listened to the band, and what they were singing, then we walked upstairs to the loft above and peered over to look at the crowd, and the band. The band was singing some not familiar to us music, but the crowd had heard this music before. Much was something that wouldn’t make the radio, too much explicit language, and suggestive phrases. But for us it was funny and we stayed till the band took a break, then we walked across the road to the FloraBama Yacht Club Restaurant.
After a few selfies on the deck as the sun went down, Polly and I had a nice dinner, and looked at the red sky remnants of the sunset. Was a nice way to talk and see what the evening was like outside the park. We talked about going back to the dance floor, but as drinking would follow, we decided no D&D and make our way home early.

Been a nice place to stay for a few days, was real quiet, and laid back. Campsite has many bikes, and people on the road, and makes you real careful. As we came home last night many people walking and on bikes with no lights, makes you real slow, and careful.

This morning when I woke Bosco wants out before I make coffee, so put the leash on and out we go. I walk down by the water and meet a woman Ronda, who sits close to the water just enjoying the peaceful start to the day. We talk about much in a short while, and I get to know her and her family, and she my life too. She says she would like to do as we are, but has young grandchildren, and watches them, but wants to sell the house and travel too, but all family lives close, and not sure if they will make it, her husband may not want to do this. As we talk her husband George shows up, and makes his way over and we talk some more, he tells me of places here to see, and where to go to look around here, he loves this place. I don’t think she will get her wish, he seems to love it close to home. Can only do if both are on the same page I said to her before her husband shows up, and she agrees.

Polly and I are on the same page, lucky us... Loving our life here in Alabama...
