Our move was like no other!

We had so much to move, mostly the shop and wood I've accumulated over the last few years. Most I put in one area, and kept away from where we'd be putting the trailer, that worked out good.

Was a really good day for it, rain had stopped, and sun came out, last couple loads of yard stuff I moved while Polly went to our granddaughter Shaylas wedding shower. Aft two loads I was almost ready, I asked Donny and Nathan two strong guys to help by loading the hitch in the truck, they did that really easy, thanks I said, then onto another load I had, delivered then back to Arrowvale for the trailer. Hooked up good, got a passing woman to help check the lights, then off I went.

As I drove I thought how good this was going, weather was working out, trailer towing great, perfect 👌

Now for the backing into the driveway, I'd checked the driveway across from where we were going, and that was a good approach, drive in there, then back across the road to the driveway I was going into. Seemed easy, so as I approached I swung the trailer way over to the far side of the two lane road, then when just as far as I could go I turned into the driveway, nose of the truck as far as I could before the ditch on the left side, all was good til thump, ahh shit! I tried heavy on the throttle, looking in the mirror now, I'm not good now 😲 trailer is leaning over, ahhhgg. Fu.. I did swear once! I looked at the problem I had now, the edge of the driveway was soft, so as I towed the trailer around it was on unsound ground and sunk down, right to the back of the trailer.

Dam, now what? I looked for damage, I thought how can I get out? Tow truck my first thought, as it looked really bad. The woman that was guiding me Laurie, said "I wished Drew was here, cause I don't know what to do to help you here,he would be good help, but not me."
That ok I said , I'll try this. After a couple hard looks I decided the only possible way to get it out was to drive forward, with a few blocks under the front trailer wheel.

I wasn't really convinced it would work, but at this point, with the trailer partially blocking the road,I was going to try. I put 3-2"x6" blocks, one in front of the other in front of the front tire, then with as much gusto as I could muster, I climbed in Rambo, and gave it full power ahead, kaboom, CC came right out onto the driveway. WOW, I was kinda shocked 😯 it worked.

I got out, looked it over with Laurie, and said "that was freaking lucky" 👌
So now after a few car's going by, and some intricate guiding and steering, our trailer is now into our site till we travel again this coming fall 🍁.

I breath deep now thinking how freaking close that was, one rear Jack sunk in the ground too, back of trailer set on the ground, WOW, making it out was amazing, having no damage, even more amazing. I tell ya, that's one in the books, never in all our travels have I had that happen, but this experience gave me really good insight to soft driveway shoulders, something I have not run into 😳 before.

After I setup the trailer, took the truck off, got the power hooked up, and slides out, the rain started, WOW, I was about to attach the water hose, but, nope, off to get the last few things id left at Arrowvale. Boy, did it pour, for a few minutes wipers could hardly keep up. On my way to Arrowvale rain stopped. It hadn't raining here at all, until I got there, then it pours full out, Oh well, by then I just wanted it to be done, so I loaded with the help of the girl in the office, a new hire, she wasn't afraid of the rain, when I asked for her help with the last couple things, she jumped right up on the truck, and loaded it was! I thanked her much, thenoff I went with the last of our goods, soaked to the ass as I'm used to from many past rainstorms here in Port Alberni.
Yep, was a good luck day alright, so yesterday we took the day off, whet for a BS with friends that I hung out with when we were younger, cars, races, and all the silly stuff we were fortunate to have done and made to our old age, was a good morning.

After Polly and I went to Qualicum for a visit with friends from Courtenay, was Americo & Claudette's 40th anniversary, so reason to celebrate 🎉🥂, over lunch, outside at the Shady Rest. Perfect afternoon in the sun with friends 👌😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎 all 12 of us. Thanks Cindy King for organizing.

Now, this morning I've got some organizing to do here, won't take too long, as our new site is big, and room for a bit bigger shop, that a friend has donated to me. After I move things around, and lay out a mat that another friend donated to me. Going to be nice to have a little more coverage here.
Guess I better get busy, writing won't "Gitter Done!"

Love our 🤞 lucky Life ❤️
